This year, we are going to present and exhibit at the annual Content Management Strategies/DITA North America Conference again! It will take place from April 4th to 6th in Reston, Virginia.

I’m going to talk about how the semantic markup in┬áDITA opens virtually unlimited possibilities for content manipulation and automation. I’m going to show you real-life examples of how content enriched with a semantic markup can be manipulated as if it were data in a database.

This is what we will be discussing and showcasing:

  • Assembling deliverables automatically, such as user guides, from individual topics automatically without having to build maps manually (for example, based on a bill of materials).
  • Generating clickable charts from individual topics automatically to graphically represent complex processes (such as installation, deployment, or troubleshooting) or complex systems that include many interconnected components (such as cloud-based solutions and storage systems)
  • Automatically creating new content that summarizes the information provided in individual topics, such as a table that┬ácontains a list and description of system components
  • Automatically generating reference documentation by integrating data from external sources into DITA
  • Automatically generating code for software and hardware from DITA (especially, for companies in the semiconductor industry)

If you are already in DITA and want to automate work processes or planning to move to DITA and looking for arguments which will help you sell DITA to your management – this presentation is right for you.

In the upcoming weeks and months, I’ll be posting more teasers on what you can expect to learn from us and see at our exhibition stand at the conference. So stay tuned! Meanwhile, you can read more about the conference venue and agenda on the official conference website.
